Linking Youth and Family

Support for Youth and Families Experiencing Difficulties

We are an outreach program offered through Woodview Children’s Centre (an accredited children’s mental health agency)

  • Are you and your Teenager having difficulty understanding each other?
  • Are you having trouble talking and listening to each other?
  • Do you as a Parent feel like you are being ignored?
  • Do you as a Teen feel like your Parents are not listening?
  • Have there been events in your lives that seemed to have pulled you apart from one-another?
  • Are you and your Teen struggling with rules and expectations in the home?
  • Are you constantly yelling at each other?
  • Are there issues involving alcohol, drugs, truancy, the Police or Children’s Aid?

If this sounds like you… Help is available!

Our Commitment To You:

  • Listen to your concerns as an individual (Parent or Teen) and family
  • Work with you in finding solutions and setting attainable goals for you and your family
  • Support you as you work towards your goals
  • Advocate and assist in identifying and connecting with additional supports

Referral FAQ:

  • Do I have to call CAS if I want help from the Linking Youth and Families Program?
  • Yes, the Linking Youth and Families program is a partnership between Woodview Children’s Centre and Halton Children’s Aid Society. The partnership’s main goal is to help families who are at risk of CAS involvement or if already an open case, at risk of their teens being placed in care. Bottom line: We want you and your teen to be able to live together.
  • How does the referral process work?
  • When a case is brought to the attention of Halton Children’s Aid Society the intake department will decide whether or not to make a referral to Linking Youth and Families. If your family qualifies, the referral will be made to us and we will contact you.
  • What happens next?
  • We will schedule our first meeting and go from there. Unless you request to meet somewhere else, all meetings will be in your home. Yes, we come to you!
  • How long are you involved with our family?
  • Depending on the issues with your family we could be involved anywhere up to five months.
