Woodview Manor Main Teaching Unit
Woodview Manor is a Supported Independent Living Program for high-functioning adults with ASD. The primary aim of the program is to assist individuals to learn the skills necessary to live independently in the community and then to support them in doing so.
The main teaching unit is a 6 bedroom residential townhouse that enables individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder to acquire the skills they need to live independently. These young adults learn adaptive skills, such as cooking, shopping, cleaning, budgeting and banking. An individual schedule, created with their input, increases their independence, while learning life skills. This program also introduces a wide variety of recreational and leisure programs which helps them build their social network.
Participants involved in this program must have a diagnosis of ASD. All of these individuals must be able to and willing to participate in a group environment, and must be able to move through the program to higher levels of independent living requiring decreased staffing inputs.
Currently, this program is only available to individuals living within the Hamilton region.
