Camps
A variety of camp experiences are offered for children and youth registered in our Social and Life Skills groups and Transition to High School Program. As well, when space permits, children and youth on our wait list may be offered these opportunities as a way to introduce them to peers and our program.
All of our camps focus on building independence, self esteem, peer relationships and a repertoire of recreational skills/interests while providing further opportunity for practicing social, life and communication skills.
Full-day activities are offered on P.A. days, occasional Saturdays during the school year and summer activity days. Activities are fun, interactive and take place in the community.
Mini-day camps are 2 – 3 days in duration and are offered during the Christmas and March school breaks. These mini-camps offer full-day age-appropriate and fun activities with the opportunity to further develop friendships. Occasionally an overnight camp is offered during the school year – typically this camp takes place at a lodge where campers sleep indoors and a variety of indoor and outdoor activities take place.
A week-long day camp is offered to children aged 10-13. Activities include day trips to interesting destinations. An overnight camping experience is part of the day camp and offers children the opportunity to build on their social experiences away from home.
For older teens a 5-7 day overnight tent camping experience is offered. Campers have the opportunity to explore interesting destinations within and outside of Ontario. This camp offers a supportive environment for teens to further their independence and “hang out with their friends”.
